Sydenham

On a suburban street in Southeast London, this 1920's mock Tudor, semi-detached house underwent a dramatic extension which took huge inspiration from North African and Mediterranean architectural styles.

Our brief was to collaborate closely with the architects to enhance the garden in such a way that spoke clearly with the new style. The garden needed to be functional for 2 small children to use while remaining stylish and easy to maintain. With that in mind, we created this gravel garden that is perforated with silver and green perennials. The industrial, Corten steel basin relates to the earth red of the building and space as a whole is framed elegantly by the use of mature multi stem trees.
